The Bridge exists to glorify God by becoming and making disciples of Jesus Christ. This isn’t something we came up with on our own, but this is actually the mission that Jesus left for us as his church.
At the end of the Gospel of Matthew, the disciples gathered to meet a risen Jesus after his resurrection from the grave. This is the account from scripture:
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:16-20
These are the great tasks of the church, assigned for us by Jesus together with his promise that he is with us even now. In the Book of Acts, we learn that these same men that Jesus originally entrusted with this mission were also given the Holy Spirit as a guide, an encourager and a comfort. We receive that same gift when we place our faith in Jesus Christ, and in the power of the Holy Spirit, our desire is to follow in the footsteps of these original disciples to accomplish the mission given to the church by Jesus: to become and to make disciples of Jesus Christ here at home and in the remotest parts of the world.
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we seek to become increasingly...
- COMMITTED to Jesus Christ, His Word, and the mission of His Church.
- COMPETENT in doctrine and doing.
- CONNECTED to others in authentic community.
- CONTRIBUTING our time, talent, and treasure.
- CREATIVE in using our God-given design for God-given opportunities.
