Read: Luke 22:54-62 and John 21:15-19
Peter is well known for making promises and not following through. Peter never thought he would deny Christ, yet according to Jesus’ prediction that is exactly what happened. But even after Peter failed miserably, Jesus wasn’t finished with Peter and had plans to restore him.
- What strikes you the most as you read about Peter’s denial of Jesus? Peter had promised to never deny Christ and even to die for Him. Why do you think he suddenly changed?
- Can you think of any ways that you have denied Christ? Not just in word, but in deed?
- In the same way the He restores Peter, Jesus desires to restore each of us. How has Christ restored you, and what does this restoration mean for your life moving forward?
Steps to take:
Take a moment and think of someone you may know that has fallen away from Christ. Pray for that person right now that they will be restored. Would you also consider reaching out to that person today and let them know God still loves them and is not finished with them? (A note, text, phone call, etc.)
